The Entries!

Today Brinley, Ryan and Ashton worked hard on their Kentucky Kids Day T-Shirt Design Contest entries.  This year's theme is Go For the Gold at Eastern Elementary.

The first step in the process is for each class to vote on the entries for their class.  Brinley and Ashton won in their class, Ryan did not.  :(

The next step is for the class winners to be voted on before the entire school.  Each student gets to vote for their favorite picture.  The kids do not know who drew the entries, what grade they are from, etc.  I think all the kids did a superb job!!

Brinley's 1st Day of School

Today was Brinley's 1st day of Kindergarten.  She missed her first week due to her surgery.  She has been waiting for this day since her last day of preschool.  She has Mrs. Pratt and Mrs. Bryant and is in the morning session.

1st Day of School for the Boys!

Today was the 1st day of school for Ethan, Ashton and Ryan. 

Ethan is at the middle school this year and it fairly excited.  I am not.

Ashton is in 4th and has Mrs. Kemper.  He isn't excited.

Ryan is in 2nd and has Mrs. Bright.  He is excited because he is high on life.

Brinley's Surgery

Today Brinley had her tonsils and adnoids removed.  She was a little bit nervous.  She asked if she was going to die.  Poor girl!!

We (Me, Brin and Ethan) got to the hospital at 7am.  I was super glad Ethan tagged along to keep me company.  He was very concerned and was so happy when it was time to see her after surgery.

More Play Time

Following the Reflections reception, we ventured north to Florence, KY. 

We stumbled upon a little park where we set up our baseball goods.  Once again, Ashton was ticked it wasn't a formal baseball diamond.  After a while, he realized that baseball can be fun ANYWHERE, like even in the middle of a soccer field.

Reflections Reception

Today we headed to the Lexington Lyric Theater for the PTA Reflections 2012 Student Recognition Award Ceremony.

Ryan was recognized for winning at the State Level for his photography entry. 

The reception was nice and low key.  They had light refreshments, a magician doing balloon animals (the highlight of the event for ALL my children), and a small program.  They had the winning entries on display for all to see.  It was a nice time.

Ryan's photograph was on the cover of the booklet they handed out today.

Kentucky PTA announced that 6,899 student entries were submitted at the local level in the Reflections Program of PTAs.
A total of 932 entries were submitted to the district level (all 3 of my boys)
Out of these, 201 were submitted to Kentucky PTA for judging (all 3 of my boys)
Kentucky PTA sent 24 entries to National PTA (Ryan)
