F.I.N.A.L.L.Y.

Today Ashton finally wore shorts. First time this year. Blog worthy, I know!

And . . . I realize this is a very random, unrelated picture to post with this. The only relation this picture has to the post is that this is probably the very first time Ashton slept like a normal person instead of all cock-eyed. And how do you properly spell cock-eyed anyway?

Okay, Okay

So I bet you are all DYING to know why I asked about Barbara Jean, right? Well Sarah, the Stalker, you are C.O.R.R.E.C.T.! It is Missy Peterman. And yes, I can call her Missy because we are FRIENDS! As in Facebook friends. As in Junior High and High School friends. Yep. We went to school together. Cool, I know! I actually found one of my yearbooks that she signed. If I can ever find it again, I will show ya!

Just think it is pretty fun that I know a celeb! And she is a pretty funny one too!

Anyone know?

Do any of you recognize this gal? She was formerly on the show "Reba" and her character's name was Barbara Jean. She recently hosted the CMT Red Carpet Pre-Show. She currently hosts the show on CMT called "The Singing Bee". Anyone? Anyone? I will let you know why I'm wondering later . . .

Big Bad Wolf!

Today Ethan received his "Wolf" badge at Cub Scout Pack Meeting. Now I have to sew on a Bobcat Patch and a Wolf Patch. I better get busy!

We are very proud of Ethan and his scouting accomplishments. It helps that he had a fabulous Den Leader and Assistant Den Leader. Thank you Sister Charles and Sister Rennick!!

Summer Feeding Program - Georgetown

Here is the information regarding the Scott County Schools Summer Feeding Program. It is for all children ages 18 and under (not reached 19th birthday). The program offers free breakfast and lunch. The locations this year are:

Garth Elementary, Georgetown Middle and Southern Elementary. In my opinion, Garth workers are the nicest and GMS are the worst.

The program begins June 14th and runs through July 30th. (Weekdays only)

Breakfast hours are 8-9am and Lunch hours are 11am-1pm.

We Are Grieving!

Don Brown Clayburn

June 17, 1927 - June 4, 2010

Today Matt's Grandpa Clayburn passed away. We are sad. Very sad. We loved him . . . A LOT! He was the last of our living Grandpa's.

Thoughts of Grandpa . . .

* I first met Grandpa Clayburn in Branson, MO back in 1996 when Matt and I were dating. He came out of no where and started tackling Matt in a mall. He scared me half to death. He was funny!

* He, Grandma and Uncle Doyle drove from SLC to STL for our Temple Sealing. That meant A LOT!

* When we moved to Utah in 2004 we were able to see Grandma and Grandpa a lot. They invited us over to their home in Rose Park often - made us feel like we had the cutest kids alive, let them be kids in their home/yard and acted like life stopped while we were there. They made us feel welcomed & loved EVERY single time.

* They also drove up to our home in Ogden several times. They made time for us!

* They enjoyed taking us out to dinner.

* We enjoyed taking them out for ice cream.

* We bought Grandpa some cowboy boots and he was cute in them!

* Matt & I went to Utah in 2001 when Ethan was about 3 months old. While there we hooked up with Grandma and Grandpa. While driving with them on I-15 I suddenly had to go to the bathroom REALLY, REALLY bad. Matt informed Grandpa of the emergency and Grandpa floored it to 90 mph to the nearest 7-11. I will NEVER forget that ride!

* He played a mean harmonica and keyboard.

* His laugh was funny.

* Grandpa emailed us every couple of months. This was a man in his 80's who had just bought his first computer so he could do his calling as Ward Clerk better.

* He cared about us and let us know it.

* Grandpa invited me to be his friend on Facebook. He didn't comment a lot, but did periodically. He was cool!

* Even though he wasn't MY biological grandpa, I felt like I was HIS biological granddaughter.

Miss you Grandpa. You were one of the bestest!! We love you!

We Have a Wee-ner!

Today Ethan came home from school and informed me that his class WON the Box Top for Education contest for their school. His class donated over 2000 box tops. Ethan alone donated over 800!!! Since they won, their teacher is going to dye her hair BLUE, they get a PIZZA PARTY and his teacher gets a new COMPUTER for her classroom! Woohoo Mrs. Moore's 3rd grade class . . . and a BIGGER thank you to all that helped make this possible. A big shout out to Grandma N., Uncle Luke & Sondra, Uncle Matty & Karla, Aunt Sarah & Eric, our neighbors Judy & Ann, and our wonderful friend Jeannie!!! Here is a little exerpt from a note that Mrs. Moore emailed me the other day . . .

Thanks so much! You have been awesome about collecting these and sending them in! Tell your friends and family that helped thank you from me too! I wish I could meet them all and give them a big hug to show them how appreciative I am!

I haven't heard yet if Ethan gets anything special for being the highest donator, but he did receive another homework voucher, more recess time, lunch with teacher, more computer time, etc. to use before the end of the school year. He better hurry since school gets out SOON (June 9th!)
