Boy Scout Day at the Kentucky Capital

Today my neighbor Gwen and I decided to take our kids out of school (minus her daughter) for Boy Scout Day at the Capital.  We also took our friend CJ with us who is our friend from church.  His mom had to work, otherwise she would have also joined us.  It was an approved "Educational Enhancement" opportunity so the kids would be "excused" from school.  We arrived there bright and early (9:30ish) and our first stop was the Governor's Mansion.

Our next stop was hopping on the trolley and making our way to the Kentucky History Museum.  The trolley was running all day just for the scouts.  It was a very handy way to travel around Frankfort.

After we finished our time at the Kentucky History Museum we got back on the trolley and it dropped us off right in front of the State Capital.  We went to the Governor's office, the House and Senate Chambers, the Supreme Court area and more.  It was a GREAT time!!  I am so glad we decided to spend this day together in Frankfort.

Right outside the Governor's office.  He was actually in there while we were taking this picture.  His secretary was like, "quick, take a picture!"

Dolls of all the Governor's 1st ladies.  Quite a fun collection.  Brinley liked this part of the exhibit.

Meet me in Kentvcky?

Following our golfing excursion we headed to the Kentucky State Capital for some mean hide-n-go-seek.  This really is the perfect venue for that game.  While the gang was playing their game, I was admiring the beauty of the building.  The only thing I found odd was the spelling of Commonwealth of Kentvcky.  I asked some passerby-er's why there was a "v" instead of a "u" in the spelling of Kentucky and they said that is the Roman spelling.  Hello?  Are we in Rome???  I told the "passerby-ers" that it makes people from Kentucky look dumb!  The other thing that bugs me there is the minature sized American Flag.  The Capital is much larger than a library, post office or bank therefore it should have a larger, more substantial flag.  We ARE proud to be American's in Kentucky, right?    Here are a few pictures of our beautiful Capital Building - wrong spelling and all!

I realize this isn't a very good photo, but you can tell here how small the flag is.

Goof Balls!

Today we made our way to one of our favorite cities . . . . FRANKFORT.  We started the day at the driving range where Matt got a hole in one (a bucket) and won a free bucket of balls.  Oh ya!  Here are pics from the driving range.  As you can see, Brinley was bored so she worked mostly on gang poses.

P.S.  I forgot to mention that this driving range is sooo cool.  Where else can you go and see this:
Sign says something like . . . "Take a basket.  Pay when I return."

Kentucky Pair -A- Dice

Tonight, like I already stated in my previous post, we ventured to Frankfort to the Forks of the Elkhorn to let our kids roam like hoosiers through the creek. They (We) all had a great time. Brinley and Ryan managed to fall in (shocker), Ryan brought home a zillion nasty shells, Matt tormented some crawdads/crawfish, we basically were in hillbilly paradise.

Here are some pictures to enjoy!

Yes, it's true . . . I EXIST!
