Memorial Day Fun!

Today we venturing up north about 40-50 miles to Big Bone Lick State Park in Union, Kentucky. Matt heard you can fish for trout there in one of the creeks. Once we arrived we decided that was false information! Boo to that! So we wandered around the Information Center area, hiked to the Bison area and then finished off the visit by playing 18 holes in their Championship Miniature Golf Course. As you can see by the photos you may disagree with my title of Championship Miniature Golf Course. It was a good time, but I doubt we'll go back.

Look at pictures HERE.

Tuesday Giggles

Today, like most days, one or more of my children say something funny. Actually it is usually an all day affair of funnies.

Tonight after the birthday festivities Brinley asked if she could eat one of the birthday candles. I told her "no" because they were made of wax. She replied, "ear wax?"

Later, I asked if she needed to go potty. She replied, "I don't want to pee on the potty because I will fall in. Sharks live in there and will bite me!"

Happy 9th Birthday, Ethan!

On this day, 9 years ago our lives changed! Big time! We were blessed with the birth of our very first child - Ethan Matthew Clayburn. Ethan has been such a wonderful addition to our family. He is generally the first to lend a helping hand, the first to calm a troubled heart, the first to figure out a problem, and so on. He has been a model child and older brother to his 3 younger siblings. We cannot imagine our lives without him. He truly is a dream come true! We love you Ethan. Hope today is a great day!!

Happy Birthday Uncle Tye!

Monday Funny!

Many of you know our friend Cindy Popp Smyly. If so, you know she is HILARIOUS!!! Apparently the funny gene has been passed down to her kiddos. Her facebook status yesterday was this:

Cam's (preschool age) blessing on the food last night: Dear Heavenly Father -- please bless that our cars and houses won't explode. Bless that nobody will die or get their eyes poked out. Please bless that the vegetables Mom made will turn into bubblegum. Bless that we don't get diarrhea from Mom's food -- Amen

Guiness Book of KNOWLEDGE

Today Ashton stayed home from school. He actually was sent home early yesterday. He had a fever. Of course, shortly after returning home "said" fever disappeared. Anywho . . . today he came with me to work. Since my job consists of driving, driving and more driving Ashton and I had a lot of time to talk. Talking with him is FUN!

So to begin, I asked for more clarity in the Flying Squirrels department. He clarified that there WERE only two, but 1 was shot and now there is one. And that ONE lives in China, which was later changed to Japan. When I asked him today again, where he learned of this he said, "in my Math book." Hmmm, Math has changed in the past 30+ years. Who knew?

On to next subject - the Sun. Today the sun was shining - for a minute. During that minute Ashton said, "if you get too close to the sun you will melt . . . and if you melt you will have no funeral." I said, "yep!"

There you have it - another day with Ashton and another day with laughs!

Nuts about Squirrels or just plain Nuts?

Today on our way to drop Ethan off at Cub Scouts, I had a fun conversation with Ashton (7). The topic was Flying Squirrels. He schooled me on all sorts of {useless} information regarding them. One of the most interesting facts was there are only 2 Flying Squirrels in the whole world. One is in Canada and I "accidently" spaced out the other location. If you HAVE to KNOW the additional spot, I will re-ask the Flying Squirrel Scholar. At the conclusion of this educataional event, he notified me that the reason why he knew so much about Flying Squirrels is that he studies a lot and is a good reader. What a NUT!

Where does the Apple Fall?

Today Ashton said this to me:

Ashton: "Mom, I've wore these undies for TWO WEEKS STRAIGHT".

I wanted to respond like this:

Mom: "Like Father, Like Son" {hee hee}

I actually wanted to post that on Facebook. I decided that "Father" wouldn't think that was as funny as I did" . . . . so I didn't. But I still want to . . . . LOL!

Disclaimer: Father and Son change their undies DAILY (crossing fingers on the Son part)
