Snow is Falling All Around, On the Housetop, On the Ground!

Today is Friday, January 30, 2009. You guessed it, no school again today. The kids have been out the entire week. We are happy to report we still have power. While watching the TV today they said that 607,000 people in Kentucky have been without power. That is a state record.

It has been snowing most of the morning. I am getting a little burned out of this weather. They are predicting another "big" storm to hit on Monday and Tuesday. I may seriously freak out if school is cancelled again on Monday and Tuesday. The way it is looking my kids may not get out for summer vacation until the 4th of July! Ugh!

Next are some pictures from around Georgetown. I went a little crazy, but everything looks so magical here. I want to remember it always!

This sign made me laugh . . . "School bus stop ahead" are we going to need this sign, or should we just take it down?

Could Today be "The" Day?

Today is Thursday, January 29, 2009. We slept at the Manwarings and life is good. Matt went off to work this morning and the kids are loving total access to the X-Box and Play Station. Ryan had a little "dance lesson" from Merinda, the Master Ballerina. Brinley just wandered around trying not to get bitten (inside joke).

We left the Manwarings house around 11:30am to meet up with Matt for lunch. The kids hadn't seen him since Sunday night. We drove to McDonald's and while there I had several phone calls that our power was on!!! Woo Hoo!!! So after lunch we headed back home to make sure. Yep. our power was on. It was a cool 47 degrees when we entered our home. We put Brinley down for a nap and the boys and I snuggled in my bed and watched some SpongeBob. Good Times!

After Brinley woke up we headed back to the Manwarings for a lovely dinner and packed up and headed home. When we got back home the 2nd time it was 66 degrees.

The kids headed to bed and fell fast asleep.

Oh - P.S. No school again today. Day #4, but who's counting?

S-no Way! No School Again?

Today is Wednesday, January 28, 2009. We are on the 3rd day in a row of no school. Matt is still in Houston trying to re-route his flight thru St. Louis instead of Chicago. We received more snow. The biggest snowflakes I have ever seen! No joke!

Our power went off at 3:30am. Our house is starting to get chilly! The kids are getting bored. Our portable DVD player has run out of charge. My cell phone is dead. The Nintendo DS's are dead. Hmmmm... what am I to do?

Then . . . The Manwarings save the day! At about 3pm a family from our ward showed up and kidnapped us. They had power and invited us to stay with them until our power returned. We quickly packed up the essentials and off we went across town.

Once we got to their home the kids were instantly in heaven. TV! HEAT! FRIENDS! VIDEO GAMES!

Matt arrived safely into St. Louis only to find his flight to Louisville was cancelled. He rented a car and arrived at the Manwarings home at about 11pm.

Winter Wonderland

Today is Tuesday, January 27th. Matt is in Houston, TX for work training. I am home with all kids (2nd day in a row). Mother Nature decided to bring us an ice storm. It started with ice, followed by snow, followed by more ice. Here are pictures from today. Notice the sheet of ice that covered the snow.
P.S. Matt was supposed to return home tonight. However, his flight was cancelled. Bummer!
