Snow Day!

Today the kids had a snow day.    A few weeks ago my friends and I purchased a "groupon deal" for a local Bounce House Fun Center.  We purchased this with the plan that we would use it on the next snow day.  Well today was the day.

On the drive to the bounce house in Lexington I commented on how pretty the snow and ice was.  Brinley commented, "it looks like Jack Frost was here last night!"

Here are a couple of pictures of the ice followed by a few bounce house pictures.  It is nearly impossible to get a good picture of them playing since they are constantly on the go-go-go!

Teeth

Today I took all four kids to the dentist for cleanings.  Luckily they were all cavity free!  Ryan had a loose tooth when we arrived and when the hygeniest was blowing the air on his tooth, it would flip up.  She ended up just pulling it.  When it was out, it was easy to see why it was sooo loose.  The other tooth was already quite a ways out.

We found out that Ethan has only 1 baby tooth left - so he gets to visit the orthodontist soon . . . . like Monday.

We found out that Ashton has 5 loose teeth, Brinley has 4 loose teeth.

All in all it was a nice dental visit.  Hooray!

Reflections 2012-2013

We received word this week that all 3 boys' photographs are moving on to State in the PTA Reflections competition.  This means they won at the school level and the district level.  If they win at the State level, they move onto Nationals.  We are very happy and proud!

Ethan's entry was called "Rainbow Glory".  He took this picture on our way home from St. Louis during Fall Break.  We were in Indiana . . .

Ashton's entry was called "Flying Museum" and was taken at an Air Show in Frankfort, KY.

Ryan has (2) photographs moving on.  One is called "I Pledge Allegience" and the other is called "The Beautiful Red Rose".  The eagle picture was taken at Grant's Farm in St. Louis.  I think the rose picture was taken at Rainforest Adventure Zoo in Gatlingburg, TN.  To be perfectly honest . . . I THINK these are the pictures that moved on.  He had several pictures and I am a little confused.  I will update if these are incorrect.  We get to attend a reception in April in their honor.

Ethan's School Project - The Three Little Pigs

Today Ethan has a project due.  He had to make a shoebox display of a Folktale Story.  He chose The Three Little Pigs.  I thought he did an amazing job!

Goodbye UK Blue Cast, Hello Boring Black Cast!

 

Today we took Ashton back to the Kentucky Clinic to have his arm re-xrayed and to get a new cast put on.  After the xrays they determined his arm was healing great and he could proceed to the new cast.  He chose black so no one could sign it.  He did not like the cast signing process.  He felt it made his cast look dirty!  The pictures show the nurse removing his old blue cast, the pins that kept the bone in place (which they removed today), and putting on a new black cast.

The nasty pins.  When they pulled them out they used vice grips and blood squirted out all over.  It was disgusting, but didn't hurt Ashton one bit.  We were surprised how long they were.  Approx 5".

This crazy contraption is used to help the patient keep his arm at a 90 degree angle as well as helping aid the patient not get too tired holding arm up.

Boy Scout Day at the Kentucky Capital

Today my neighbor Gwen and I decided to take our kids out of school (minus her daughter) for Boy Scout Day at the Capital.  We also took our friend CJ with us who is our friend from church.  His mom had to work, otherwise she would have also joined us.  It was an approved "Educational Enhancement" opportunity so the kids would be "excused" from school.  We arrived there bright and early (9:30ish) and our first stop was the Governor's Mansion. 

Our next stop was hopping on the trolley and making our way to the Kentucky History Museum.  The trolley was running all day just for the scouts.  It was a very handy way to travel around Frankfort.

After we finished our time at the Kentucky History Museum we got back on the trolley and it dropped us off right in front of the State Capital.  We went to the Governor's office, the House and Senate Chambers, the Supreme Court area and more.  It was a GREAT time!!  I am so glad we decided to spend this day together in Frankfort.
